ProductDyno WOMBAT Q&A
For more information on running a successful referral marketing campaign for memberships just head to https://productdyno.com/wombat/
Where Do I Find WOMBAT
WOMBAT appears in the Dashboard when you are managing a Product or Collection.
Note
You can not see the WOMBAT items in the dashboard if you do not have an existing product/collection. Just use the Add Product Wizard to create a dummy product and you'll be able to check out the WOMBAT.

Q : Why is WOMBAT disabled on my Product?
A: Is your product set to be PUBLIC ACCESS? If so, then you cannot activate WOMBAT on this product since points are counted when a new member registers with a referral URL - with PUBLIC ACCESS, there is no registration
Q: When a visitor is asked to input info - first name, last name and email address - can the system forward these details to your integrated autoresponder
A: Yes! When a visitor registers via a WOMBAT form, it is exactly like if they had registered with a PD standard registration page.
Q: Are there any limitations? Can we run unlimited campaigns with unlimited amount of participants?
A: At the moment we are offering unlimited everything as far as WOMBAT is concerned. We do plan to add limits in due course.
Q: Can it be used outside of ProductDyno - in other words can people who are not yet members of a product in my account join and refer to get access to a reward?
A:Yes, you obviously have a product/collection IN ProductDyno that you are promoting. The referral link does point back to that. Everyone who joins is added to that product/collection - and can therefore get a link and share it. Check out our demo campaign https://cheatsheetkit.productdyno.com/invite
Q: Are rewards limited to products within particular collections? Example: If I have a collection and I want to propose people can refer to get rewards, can the rewards be independent of the collection?
A:Your rewards can be anything you want - a coupon, free download, access to the same or a different product or collection
Q: So I could add a free product into any existing collection with one or more "reward" products that can be unlocked by referrals, they could sit alongside paid products in the same collection?
A: Exactly!
Q: Does WOMBAT integrate with all of the autoresponders that PD does?
A: Yes, all services including webhooks.
Q: Are only referrals who sign up counted for points?
A: Yes! The opt-in form is actually a registration for that Product/Collection so points are only awarded when the form is completed and the referral joins the membership.
Q: Are the sign-up buttons and pop ups available as embed codes so they could be put on any external page?
A: This feature is not available at the moment. The workaround is to use a PageDyno Bridge Page as the popup/embed code to send viewers to your WOMBAT registration form
Q: If I have a paid product in a collection, can buyers unlock a reward for referring buyers to that product or does it only work with freebies?
WOMBAT works for BOTH types of referrals: free signups and buyers.
Referring Signups : You can have a free giveaway in a Collection with a paid for product - then when the member accesses his free reward, he'll see the other products in the Collection and may be tempted to buy. You could make this work if you have a Product with a free level (or trial period) that leads to a paid level. Then all members will have gone through your payment processor's checkout page and entered their payment details. When the free trial ends they will be charged accordingly.
Referring Buyers: See the article: WOMBAT Purchase-Based Referrals
Q: I keep getting the message "Please enter a valid email". Why?
Please check that the email you are entering actually exists. Can you receive an email to it from any other mailing system?
Q: What protection is there against the WOMBAT being gamed?
You can set your WOMBAT to detect IP fraud and prevent disposable emails in the Settings->Security panel
Q: Can I add a milestone while WOMBAT is running?
Yes, milestones can be added while WOMBAT is running. When you change the requirement for the milestone, it depends if you are incrementing the number of referrals everyone will need to meet the new requirements. If you are decreasing the requirements and those who already fall with this requirement, will still have to refer one more prospect to achieve that milestone.
Q: What is the WOMBAT Signup/opt-in Reward?
The WOMBAT signup/opt-in reward means that someone entering via the ‘Invite’ page link will get the opt-in reward you have set up, the invite links example for your reference are:
https://yourdomain.productdyno.com/invite
https://yourdomain.productdyno.com/invite/{referral_id}
Whenever a member signs up through the invite page link, he will instantly get the opt-in reward. If old/existing members have access to the sign-up reward products then it’s fine else they will see the ‘Restricted Area Page’.
When you plan to run a referral campaign inside the Collection then It’s better to set up a ‘Bonus’ product as an opt-in reward so new/existing members will have access to that product and the other products will be unlocked according to the milestones.
Q: How to add a product to a collection that is given as a reward for WOMBAT for referral NOT for just opt-in... say for 10 referrals...
When you set up a milestone that requires for example 10 referrals then it should not be added as a ‘Bonus’. This product will automatically be accessible to the member who gets 10 referrals. The WOMBAT system works with the ‘Invite’ link which is mentioned above. It is not related to a manually added member or added via a payment processor.
Q: How do I offer one product (or more) that is FREE via WOMBAT and NOT visible to “non rewardees” The SHOW TO NON-BUYERS setting will work as expected regardless WOMBAT milestone setting. If the product is hidden, it will be automatically visible when the milestone is reached or the product access achieved.
Q: The WOMBAT button isn't working.
